Located about 2h30 away by road, Essaouira attracts visitors with its peaceful vibe, white houses with blue shutters and rich maritime heritage. This excursion perfectly combines culture, relaxation and discovery.
We will leave Marrakech at 08:30 heading towards Essaouira. The journey takes place in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. A short stop can be made along the way if necessary.
Upon arrival, you will begin your visit at the port of Essaouira, built in the 18th century. Formerly nicknamed Tombouctou, it served as a strategic commercial link between Africa, Europe and America.
Today, the port remains lively as fishermen return with their boats full of fresh fish. You will see the famous blue wooden boats and experience the authentic daily life of this coastal city.
The visit continues to the Skala, a historic military site built to protect the city from sea attacks. An impressive collection of bronze cannons still faces the Atlantic Ocean.
You will then walk along the Portuguese ramparts, which offer breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and the waves crashing against the ancient walls.
The medina of Essaouira is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a remarkable example of a late 18th-century fortified town.
You will stroll through its narrow streets and explore traditional souks displaying a wide range of locally handmade products such as carpets, wool clothing, jewelry, aromatic products and carved wooden decorations.
After the guided visit, you will have free time for lunch in one of the city’s restaurants. You may enjoy local specialties, especially fresh fish and seafood.
You will also have free time to walk along the beach and watch surfers enjoying the Atlantic waves.
In the late afternoon, return to Marrakech with arrival scheduled between 16:00 and 16:30.
